Shepherd's Hut

As part of our partnership with The Prince’s Trust, we designed and fitted three kitchens for the Show Homes at the 2014 Ideal Home Show, in return we were kindly offered a stand of our own. Realising at the eleventh hour we only had one day to install and decorate the stand (a task that normally takes three), we had to think fast.

Something mobile was the answer, something we could pre-decorate back at HQ and just wheel in to Earls Court. After trawling the internet for something suitable (but also appealing), we found a Shepherd’s Hut; the outside had been refurbished, the walls and roof insulated and clad with match boarding, all that it needed was ‘fitting out’ inside - perfect! We got the hut back to Suffolk and work began, the cupboards fresh off the workshop floor and a novelty for our joiners who rarely get to see their handiwork installed.

The kitchen is paired back and simple, ‘All White’ cupboards with Oak worktop and spoon rack above; a stainless steel Alpes Inox gas hob, a traditional ceramic Butler’s sink with brass hand pump to bring water up from the jerry can below, and as a playful touch we painted the ceiling ‘Blue Ground’ to match the colour of the sky on a summer’s day in Suffolk.

Our Shepherd’s Hut quickly became our mobile showroom and currently resides at Stowupland Hall. We often use the hut for events, and most recently teamed up with Bourne & Hollingsworth to serve Bloody Mary’s.

NB We also supplied cupboards for the B & H Kitchen which you can hire – see their website!
